Gratitude

Thank you

Co-designing and delivering KFF2026 in Amsterdam was a joy and a privilege. To everyone who stepped into the metamorphosis with us at Tolhuistuin and Ruigoord – sponsors, funders, speakers, volunteers, community dinner hosts and everyone who came to experience Katapult Future Fest in a new city – thank you.

Moving the festival was a risk and an undertaking. You met it with more kindness, generosity and radical collaboration than we could have hoped for. You didn't just attend an event; you co-created it.

Context

What is Katapult Future Fest?

KFF is a global movement for bold ideas, deep connection and collective action. Since 2017 it has grown from an annual event in Oslo into a community of impact investors, systems thinkers, wealth holders, entrepreneurs, artists and changemakers.

After seven editions in Oslo, we paused to redesign what the gathering could be. In 2026 we relaunched in Amsterdam, with Investor Day at Tolhuistuin and the festival days at Ruigoord, our creative partner. It was our first edition in a new city, and our biggest and most joyful yet.

Highlight moments

Two moments people kept coming back to

Kirsten Dunlop in conversation with Tharald Nustad

Kirsten Dunlop's opening frame

Her opening speech and In Conversation with KFF’s founder, Tharald Nustad, set the tone for Investor Day and was repeatedly named as a standout. Attendees described the framing of the metamorphosis, infused with poetry, as what made the morning.

Kate Raworth's Economic Circus on stage

Kate Raworth's Economic Circus

The Doughnut Economics author led a high-energy, circus-style performance on wealth at Investor Day, and a second Economic Circus on the first festival day, reframing what a healthy economy could look like. It was the most-mentioned highlight in the survey, with attendees calling it interactive, playful and thought-provoking.

“Katapult Future Fest has emerged, for me, as one of the most important convenings of kindred spirits, dreamers, and doers working to shape a future worth living.”

Eva Gladek, CEO of Metabolic

“The magic of KFF is not just at the event itself. It’s the relational work done in the months before and after that breeds greater coherence… A common theme this year was the need for infrastructure for systems change. KFF2.0 is the embodiment of that.”

Mission-aligned funding only

We took sponsorship and grants solely from funders whose mission aligns with ours.

Investors cross-subsidise

Higher-priced investor badges deliberately subsidised lower-priced startup, NGO and student access.

Staff costs shared

A share of the human resources behind KFF is funded by Katapult Foundation.

Sustainability, not profit

Break-even is an explicit aim. As a non-profit, any surplus is reinvested back into KFF community building.

Sustainability

Our footprint and where we can do better

We're still learning, and much of our environmental and social footprint depends on our venue partners. We want to do better, particularly on making sure our supply chain is sustainable and ethical.

Ruigoord

Ruigoord strives to work with suppliers who prioritise sustainability. They focus on locally sourced, seasonal, and mostly plant-based or vegetarian food and drinks to reduce their environmental impact. The meals served at KFF2026 were all vegetarian, a change we made in response to feedback from previous editions, with sustainability in mind.

Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin runs entirely on LED lighting, with motion sensors in shared spaces, sustainably sourced power and solar panels on the Pavilion roof. Catering for KFF Investor Day 2026 at Tolhuistuin was vegetarian and its restaurant THT works with local, seasonal produce.

Room to do better

Avoidable single-use plastic found its way into KFF2026 and one attendee challenged us on it directly. For KFF2027, we’ll work with suppliers and venue partners to cut single-use plastic, and give clear guidance on materials to those hosting or helping with sessions. We always value being challenged because that’s how we learn and improve.

Volunteers

Around 60 volunteers helped make KFF2026 happen. About eleven of them came through two social partners that DOEN introduced us to: De Nieuwe Schaduw, which works with status holders (refugees with a residence permit), and Stichting Festival Academy, whose participants and trainer ran the Krater stage on two festival days. For us, social sustainability means opening the festival to people who would not usually be in the room, and giving them real roles and experience. We want to grow these partnerships for KFF2027.

Takeaways

What we learned

The Amsterdam move resonated

Ruigoord as our creative partner drew consistent praise, and the space in nature was the most-cited favourite thing about KFF2026, although accessibility was a voiced concern.

NPS of 32

Session and venue ratings were positive, so we read the score as a reflection of execution at scale in a new city, rather than a drop in content quality.

Investor Day capacity

Investor Day sold out, and Tolhuistuin could not comfortably hold everyone who wanted to be there.

Food and drink can improve

Our most consistent operational feedback, including telling a better story about where the food comes from.

Diversity is an action point

The Global North was over-represented. Despite setting aside budget to allow for low-price tickets, we need to do more to bring in Global South voices.

Healthy sponsor relationships

Responding sponsors rated partnership value 7.3 out of 10 on average, and each gave specific, actionable feedback for how we can improve 2027.

What happens next

What we're taking into KFF2027

Keep what you love

Ruigoord, the community dinners, the serendipitous space between sessions, and a programme people help shape and co-create, in both the meetup sessions and open unconference space.

Make room for everyone

A venue that fits the demand for Investor Day, and ticket pricing based on need.

Bring more of the world into the room

Extend the cross-subsidy model and actively seek out more diverse participation.

Go deeper, not just wider

Fewer, longer, more honest conversations that end in action, rather than more panel discussions.

Two streams for Investor Day

An Exploring stream, for those early in their impact investing journey, and a Practitioners stream, for experienced systems investors.

Community

Keeping the conversations going

What KFF2026 set in motion, and who is carrying it forward.

TWIST

TWIST ran an Action Lab at KFF2026, which seeded two workstreams that TWIST is now taking forward:

  • Investing for Systems Change in Times of Volatility
  • Legal Infrastructure for Investing in Systems Change

Katapult Foundation

The not-for-profit behind KFF gives ideas from the festival a place to grow, as it did with TWIST and C4i in previous years. Three new projects from KFF2026 are now in its care:

  • AI for Society Alliance
  • Systemic Philanthropy
  • EPIC Narratives

Local Community Suppers

The Community Dinners are one of the most loved parts of KFF, so they don’t stop when the festival does. Katapulters can now host Local Community Suppers in their own homes around the world, all year round.
